Map Quest

My sis is always on the lookout for a map to put in Beckett's room. The other day I came across a stamped map from Best Made Company, who also sells those pretty axes. Yes I said pretty axes :) Now I do think Arkansas is pretty, but I think I am holding out for Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, or Maine.

Cute, but what the?

I find this quite strange that you would put 2 heads on a sweet looking plush kids toy. To each his own. Right :)

No silly not the Lane–The Couch! and now that is a couch or sofa, whichever your region prefers.

One of my faves!

Kickin' It Old School

Check out this old school sweater from the new school LL Bean. I dig it.

Owl pillows Galore!

Watching this new show, "Better with You," and they had the cutest owl pillow. I looked it up and man it was easy. It's not as cute as I thought, because it is actually kind of crazy.

What is crazier is how many freaking owl pillows there are out there.

The Spin Pin

My friend Rachel showed me this funny little pin today called the Spin Pin, made by Goody. She let me try hers. It is pretty amazing. She said she got hers at Walgreens for 6 bucks, which is cheaper then amazon for $10.
Here is how you use it. Unfortunately it is 6 min. Kind of long.

Hubz needs a new pair of shoes!

Trying to talk the hubz into some new shoes. I really think he would love and look awesome in some Clarks originals. We'll see if he goes for it :) Find them cheaper here.

Books for Beckett

Other kids books that my new nephew Beckett has or eventually will have. Since graphic design is my first love, then Paul Rand is where it is at. Mr. Rand and his wife Ann have a few kids books that she wrote and he illustrated. And another fave is Bruno Munari.

ELEPHANT elephant: a book of opposites

I saw this book the other day at Peek…aren't you curious! Peek is a kids clothing store, but they also have plush animals and books. So, I picked this book up and it is hilarious! I couldn't find any pics of the inside pages, but trust me it is worth the $12 at amazon. For example, they have square and round. To illustrate this they have one elephant with a circle belly and then one with a square. For girl and boy, one elephant is peeing green out of the boy hole and one is peeing green out of the girl's. But not like a little, but like a flood. It is way better than I am explaining it. The illustration style is simple, but clever.

Giggle Fest

The 2 all time greats can't keep a straight face. This is too cute and hilarious!

Weekend Special

Jcrew just launched it's factory store on their website. The only thing is that it is only open for business on the weekends. So don't go looking for a deal on Tuesday.

Born Modern

The much anticipated (by me) Alvin Lustig book. You can actually get it now for $50 on chronicle or $31.50 on Sept. 29th on amazon.

via chronicle
Alvin Lustig was modern before it was cool. But there has never been a monograph devoted to his work—until now. A genius best known for his book covers and interior design, his theories on design education were precursors to the curricula of some of the most renowned design schools today. Lustig lent his imaginative vision and talent to a wide range of legendary projects, from the groundbreaking architecture of 1940s Los Angeles to magazine covers that have become collector's items. Spanning the breadth of Lustig's tragically brief but prolific career, Born Modern is a must-have for any student or practitioner of design, as well as anyone interested in the history of American visual culture.

Steven Heller is an editor and writer on design.

Elaine Lustig Cohen, wife of Alvin Lustig, is a book and jacket designer and artist.

Face time

This is Boscia. It's Japanese, it has no preservatives, and they sell it at Sephora. This is the only face stuff that I can use on my face without it eventually clogging my pores. It is my super fav. I have used it for probably two years now and it is still wonderful. I use the face lotion, scrub, mask, toner, face wash and make up remover.

4 Sides are not always square

What does that mean? That it could be a rectangle or a trapezoid or a parallelagram. I just didn't want to say "Framed." :)

So, my sis asked if I had any framing ideas for her new little ones pics. She really likes how I frame which is funny, because I hang them up, but I don't always get to putting pictures in them.

Here are some ideas:

My new friend Squirrel

Found this little squirrel in the parking lot after work today. He/She wasn't moving too fast, as squirrels usually do, so he caught my attention. I got really close and he didn't move. Then I started chasing him, but not really he just kind of hopped around. Then he went into the ivy, so we hung for a while. Then the security guard drove up and I was playing and said you should take him home. Next thing I knew he went back to his truck and got his "squirrel gloves" and then he just reached over and picked him right up. About two seconds later he bit the security guard in fright, but then he stopped. Last I asked the security guard where he was going, thinking he was going to put him closer to the building, but instead he said, "like you said, I am taking him home." Crazy squirrel tamer.

Ok, so this is obviously my squirrel voice. I don't usually sound like an Olympic gymnast. :) video

Fall for Virginia Johnson

I super love her stuff and now she has home goods coming out and baby! I guess I am going to have to talk to the hubz about getting one of those, so I can load up on Virginia's collection. J/K :)

I want this owl pillow B-A-D, BAD!

Oh yeah, Rafa now has his career grand slam. Winning on all surfaces! Go Rafa!

The Land of Intarsia

I just love that word. Intarsia! It sounds made up, yeah? I not only love to say it, but wear it too. Here are some fun finds in the Land of Intarsia.

vocab lesson: I had no idea it has the same meaning for wood working too!

Intarsia is a knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colours. As with the woodworking technique of the same name, fields of different colours and materials appear to be inlaid in one another, but are in fact all separate pieces, fit together like a jigsaw puzzle.

According to that definition this fairisle pattern should not be included, but it is just too pretty to leave on the desktop.

to each his own

I obviously had to document these dude's style.

Easy A

Maybe if I am really nice, the hubz will take me to see this. My favorite genre: "teenage comedy/drama.

Old Home Supply

My friend Caroline told me about "Old Home Supply," a renovation supply, in Fort Worth. I am originally from FW, and didn't know of the place, so I thought I would go check it out. This place takes up 3 corners with 3 buildings on the corner of College and W Jefferson in FW's Fairmont district. Lots of knobs, 5os colored sinks and tubs, and vintage doors of all eras. The hardware was a little overpriced, but it is vintage and not just a replica like you would find a cheaper version at Anthropologie.

Grow, Bloom, Poppin Up!

Things that I meant to grow, don't really want to grow, and is a nice surprise that are growing.

My Living Room Covets

I really would live a new sofa for the tv room, because ours has a big hole in it right now. Our fault. We let the girls (pups) come and snuggle on us, while we watch t.v. Anyway, I found this really pretty sofa, of all places, at Dillard's. I like it so much that I finished out the room.
